Dick Welles* Selections At Havre De Grace f ! t i [ ! f i t I 1 f r t II. P. WIIITNFY ENTRY— TUTRIX— FLORA M. PANDORA and FRESCO are the H. P. Whitney entry in this race and they appear to have all the class. The latter is the best of the two in our judgment. In the Aberdeen Stakes, ran last Saturday, she was away with the others nnd consequently took a lot of bumping and jostling, but for all of that her performance was a creditable one when she closed an immense gap to land in fourth position. PANDORA raced fairly well in her only start and can be expected to show improvement. VICTRIX has a see-and a third to her score to date and if she runs as well today will be the one to cause the winner the most trouble. FLORA M. has had many nice things said about her and is the one we liked for the show. IIFR OWN— DECLARE— SWINBI RNE. Maiden three-year-olds are asked to race over the five and a half furlongs course in the second race. With a field of this kind, picking the winner is quite a task. However, HER OWN appears to have the best chance of winning. This Trap Rixk filly from the stable of Adm. Cary T. C.rayson ran a fair race in her only start when she finished third to Montferrat and Swept. In that race she was hard ridden from the start, but tired slightly when the stretch was reached, just losing the place money by a nose. If she shows any improvement at all over that last race think she can beat this bunch. UBCLARK finished a length behind HER OWN in the same race and showed a fairly creditable performance. The same effort today would find him in second place. SWINBURNE is an imported colt of excellent breeding and while he did not do anything in his three races last year as a two-year-old. some excuses can be found for him in the fact that he may not have been thorc.ughly acclimated. Expect him to take down the show money ERICA— CLEAR VIEW— VAN PATRICK. ERICA apears to have a winning chance in the third race today. He raced fairly well in his only start here, but will meet less formidable company today and expect him to do much better. CLEAR VIEW showed some good races so far this spring and can be exjK-cted to be ready for a win one of these days. Jn his present form think he can take second money. VAN PATRICK has not been able to find his racing legs since reaching here from Jefferson Park, but he is a dangerous opponent when fit. The word has been passed that he is gradually nearing winning form and on that account we are picking him to be in the money at the finish. DKKSS PA RA 1E— TRAFFIC— R A PURE. There will be many anxious eyes watching the running of the fourth number, called the | Kentmere Purse, for here DRESS PARADE, a son of the mighty Man o War. is entered. : He is also entered in the noted Kentucky Derby and his showing today will go a long way towards deciding whether or not he will i be pointed further for that rich race. He ■ is to carry top weight in the race, 115 pounds, but this should not prove too much , of a burden for him. He raced against the best of them last year and always gave a good account of himself. TRAFFIC and RAPTURE, stablemates from the barn o* H. P. Whitney, appear to be the ones most apt to cause the winner trouble. They have ; both been seen under colors at this meeting and at Howie and were in the money in all their starts. TRAFFIC apears to have the better chance of the two as she will be in undvr the leight weight of 100 pounds. F A E N / A— I»E VON SH I K K-IH ST I P FAENZA had no trouble winning his last • race and as the company he meets here is ! no better, and with eight jiounds off his last ! race, look for him to score just as easily today. He is in rare form right now and he should be. able to score a few more victories before losing form. DEVONSHIRE has not j been to the races this year. His last time j out was at Relmont Park where he finished . unplaced. If Healy has him in any kind of I condition he should not have the slightest I trouble in taking the place money. DCST UP showed some fair races, both at this I course and at Miami, but he meets some stiffer opposition today and cant see him i doing any better than landing in third place. PAN DOSTO— MARRY ELLEN O.— VILLAGER. PANPOSTOS last race would indicate that he is gradually getting back to his Jefferson 1ark form where he was returned i the winner on more than one occassion. That last race should have done him a world of good and think he will be the one to beat this bunch. MARY ELLEN O. finished a good second to Modj in her last out and the same race today w uld find her the eon- ; tender. VILLAGER has shown some good i trials since his last race at Bowie and a 1 race to those works would find him close up at the finish PANOLA — MAXIE — CHIEF JAMES. Taking a line through the last two races run by PANOLA, it would seem that she is I very nearly ready for a winning performance. At the weights, if a capable rider can : lie found for her she should romp home the easiest kind of a winner. MAXIE showed a flash of speed in his last race and may be I expected to give a Vietter account of himself today. CHIEF JAMES has only been to the race ome since leaving Florida and on j that occasion he raced poorly. He is capable of doing. much better, however, and may be the one to save third money for his stable.
