WOODBINE PREPARATIONS Workmen are Busy Painting and Fixing Up Plant Generally for Coming Meeting. TORONTO Ont, April 15.— Painters are hard at work at the Woodbine course, brightening up several of the buildings in preparation for the spring meeting, which is now little more than a month away. The beautiful plant presents a pretty sight at any time, but when the painters, gardeners and general grounds men get through their annual spring cleaning, by which time the broad lawns are at their greenest and the trees are all in leaf, the course is one of Torontos natural beauty spots. Training conditions continue perfect. The track is ready to be raced over right now and with the influx of horses beginning earlier than usual this spring, there is much activity in the early morning hours. Works, for the most part, are of the easy variety, however, trainers being content to bring their charges along slowly, as they are well ahead of schedule this year. Proceedings were enlivened somewhat on Thursday morning when W. Hagans Barn-bine ran away about two miles with his exercise boy. This horse is an imported jumper, which was brought to this country by the Laurel Park Stud. The horse pulled up slightly lame in his right front foot, but otherwise there were no serious results from the runaway. The latest arrival at the course is P. T. Richardson, who got in from Pompano with the platers. Sure to Win, Florence Deen and John Finnegan. The trio shipped in fine shape and after a few days rest from their long ride, will be put into active training for their Canadian campaign. Mr. Richardson was disgusted with the Pompano fiasco and expressed himself as mighty glad to get back north. A
