LICENSE COMMITTEE MEETS Will Report to Kentucky State Racing Commission April 21 — Several Refused, Says Rumor. LEXINGTON. Ky., April 15.— The license committee of the Kentucky State Racing Commission today completed its work ajid will submit its report to the commission at its next meeting, which is to be held here next Thursday, April 21. two days in advance of the opening of the Kentucky spring season of racing at the Kentucky Association track. Secretary W. S. Sherwood, chairman of the license committee, today said that no advance statement of the committee"s recommendations would be made. It is rumored, however, that several who made application for riding licenses have not received :he committee"s approval. A. G. Woodman, trainer of Cotlogomor and other horses belonging to S. A. Cowan, yesterday wired secretary Sherwood, withdrawing his application for a license. The application was withdrawn because of the ruling made against Woodman by the Tijuana stewards, whom he is alleged to have publicly criticized over the defeat of Cotlogomor in the Cof froth Handicap. it is expected here that when the commission meets it will be reorganized by the selection of Polk Iifoon as chairman and Sewell Combs as vice-chairman. Lafoon is the ranking member of the commission and is the present vice-chairman. Sewell Combs, president of the Kentucky Association and the Blue Grass Fair Association, likewise a breeder and owner of horses, is one of the best posted racing men in the state. He was appointed by lovernor Fields to the seat on the commission made vacant by the resignation of his brother. Thomas A. Combs, whose retirement from the activities of the commission was due to the state of his health, which now is somewhat improved.
