T.t April 15.— Interest In the opening of the racing season of 1927 on The Jockey Clubs courses, scheduled for Monday, April 25, was increased yesterday by the release on the part of racing secretary Henry Pebler of the weights for the Pau-monok Handicap, the feature of the first days sport at Jamaica. A study of the imposts allotted the sixty-two candidates, will convince turf followers that Mr. Vosburgh, the official handicapper of The Jockey Club, has done a good piece of work. Sarazen, as was to be expected, is top weight at 130 pounds, with the Ran-cocas crack Silver Fox in receipt of five pounds. Croyden is considered the best of Harry Payne Whitneys lot and gets 118 pounds, the same burden as the fleet Sarma-tieus from the Aknusti Stable. Two of the fastest of the probable runners — Vespasian and Flight of Time, get 117 each. The crack South American racer Copiapo. which has wintered in the care of John Loftus at Belmont Park, is in well at 110 pounds, and is a sure starter. It is interesting to note that The Jockey Clubs expert ranks Sweepster as the best of the three-year-olds that have been named for this first of the sprinting stakes of the meeting. He gets 111 pounds, one more than E raconis. the speedy son of North Star III., in the stable of G. A. Cochran, and three more than his speedy stable companion San-kari. Pandera, considered by many the speediest of the two-year-old fillies last year, is weighted at 105 pounds, which is also th« impost of the Belair Studs good colt General Lee and the Whitney three-year-old Whiskery. Pantella has 104 and Black Curl 103. The promising Premier gets 102, Lodina, 99 ; Peter Peter, 98, and Charade, 97. From present appearances the field for the Paumonok. which will be worth about ,000, will be both large and representative.
