NORTHERN STAR REPEATS Carries Mrs. W. J. Foleys Colors to Second Victory at Beulah Park — Eva May Graduates. COLUMBUS. Ohio. April 19.— A series of races given over to the cheaper grade of horses made up the card at Beulah Park this afternoon. They were decided over a heavy track, but despite this, many of the races were productive of keen stretch struggles. Overhead conditions were more favorable today, with a touch of Spring in the air. Finishing fast through the last quarter. Northern Star earned his second purse of the meeting when he won the third race. Quanah came from far back to outstay Summer Time for place honors and with better racing luck during the early stages would have given the winner an argument at the end. One of the best finishes of the afternoon resulted in the opening race, in which Eva May just got up in the final strides to outstay Cyclopean, the pacemaker. This marked the initial victory for the daughter of The Porter. Honey Lou, from which much was expected, was a close third. Opening up a long early lead, Barbary Bush was never seriously threatened during the running of the second race. He ruled favorite and his victory was a popular one. Castlereagh got up in the last few yards to dispose of Merry O. for second place. Although she led throughout Tee Hee was doing her best in the final stages of the fourth race to retain a length advantage over the fast finishing Press Gang. The latter is a slow beginner, but he gained rapidly in the stretch, but on the outside. Priceless was a close third, but Wee Wee quit when the pinch came. Taking command at once Golden Locks showed the way by a comfortable margin throughout the running of the fifth race. Young April was always in close pursuit of the leader and held the others safe. Helen of Troy saved third place with little trouble.
