With increased facilities in the mutuel pavilion, an improved plant and other advanced ideas in the conduct of a race meeting with which to greet the lovers of the thoroughbred, general manager Clifford Trimble is sanguine that the Exposition Park Jockey Club will stage its best and most prosperous meeting. Continued heavy rains have mitigated against any chance of a fast track for the first days racing, but the state of the footing i;s not expected to deter either race fans from making the journey to Aurora or prevent horsemen from naming their charges for the races. A large attendance is expected to welcome the horses back to the Chicago district after an absence of nearly six months. Monday afternoon judge Charles F. Price wa-s here in company with Charles Bidwell as a license committee representing the Illinois Turf Association. Many applicatons for trainer and jockey licenses were considered, hut the committee refused to divulge the names of those who were licensed, making the statement that not until all applications have been considered and passed upon would the list be made puhlic. FRIDAY LADIES DAT. General manager Trimble made it known today that the second day cf the meeting — Friday. April 22 — would be Indies Day and that all women making the journey to Exposition Park would be admitted free. The Al Jolsan Handicap will be the feature race of the first Ladies Day. Each Monday and Friday thereafter will be Ladies Day at Exposition Park, the fair sex being admitted free on each of those days during the meeting. Former jockey E. Hileman a veteran of the saddle who was forced into retirement in the spring of 1926 owing to injuries received at the Beulah Park race course, is employed in the secretarys office at the Aurora track and will remain during the meeting.
