BELMONT A. ROWE IS DEAD Son of James Rowe, Trainer-in- Chief of H. P. Whitneys Stable, Passes Away. HAVRE DE GRACE. Md.. April 19.— All departments of racing were thrown into grief when news of the death of Belmont A. Rowe. at Asheville, N. C. was received. The deceased, a son of James Rowe, trainer-in-chief for the Harry Payne Whitney stable, was 35 years old at the time of death, and had been a patient at a mountain sanitarium for eighteen months. Named for the elder August Belmont, for whom his father was training at the time of the boys birth, he grew up in a racing atmosphere and endeared himself to everyone connected with the sport by his affable gentility. James Rowe, Jr., another of the Whitney trainers, also suivives. Both were born at Brooklyn, N. Y. The family plot is at Greenwood Cemetery. Announcement of funeral services will probably be made from Brookdale Farm, when his father returns on Sunday night after spending a week with the lad, who appeared in fair health and who had been assured that his condition would warrant discharge from medical attention within another six weeks.
