Kellys Kentucky Derby Eligible Gallops One Mile in 1 :51 %. ♦ Trainers Active with Charges Despite Muddy Condition of Lexington Track — Boo in Easy Gallop. * LEXINC.TON, Ky., April 19.— The impending spring Kentucky racing that opens at the local association course Saturday advanced twenty-four hours closer for trainers when they concluded one of the busiest mornings of training activities of the entire spring. The two tracks, fetlock deep in the most trying combination of soil and water that has prevailed in some time, were crowded with thoroughbreds throughout the morning and, while fast trials were out of the question, close to two hundred equines were given trials. The afternoon brought still further activity, particularly among the two-year-olds, which visited the schooling barrier in large numbers. Many of the youngsters were sent away from the barrier for stiff trials, the first real driKing in the way of competitive racing they have had in several days. Ideal spring weather was largely responsible for the vast amount of activity, although trainers have professed intentions of no further delay in their programs, no matter what track and weather conditions mav be. Much interest again centered around the trials of Kentucky Derby eligibles, with F. J. Kellys Bonaire contributing the most impressive workout. He worked over a distance of one mile, completing the course in 1 lolr,, and while he is a good work horse, horsemen held the move as one of the best of the season here. Later in the morning his stable companion RoKed Stocking, J. W. Parrishs Derby candidate, negotiated three-quarters in 1 :21%. Trainer W. Hurley gave the Idle Hour Farm Stable horses in his care their first work of any consequence since arriving from New Orleans. He had Ooldie Johnson give Boo. winner of the Louisiana Derby, an easy mile in 2:00, the veteran trainer taking no chances with the son of Black Toney and I Win over the rough track and he is not overly proficient in such going. Birley M. C, another of the Idle Hour Farm Stables Continued on twelfth pnge BONAIRES FAST WORKOUT Continued from first page Kentucky Derby eligibles which Hurley is training, worked three-quarters in l:24fe, running easily all the way. Colonel J. S. Taylors Derby and Camden Handicap candidate Scotland, worked a mile in liSl3 very handily. This trial was more noteworthy than the time indicates and trainer Tommy Taylor believes the son of Light Brigade is training well. H. J. J. Beckmans Mary Helen, Derby and Oaks eligible, continued her fine training by galloping three-quarters in 1 :20%. and H. Webbs Beggar Boy ran a mile in 1 :58Vfe.
