PRAISE FOR CANDY QUEEN • 1 Trainer George Walker Declares Archibald Derby Hope to Be An Exceptional Filly. H. T. Archibald, the Chicago sportsman, is the proud owner of an exceptional filly in Candy Queen, his main reliance for the Kentucky Derby. At least that is the opinion of George Walker, who is pointing the gallant miss for the great Churchill Downs event. "I never saw a filly improve like Candy Queen has recently." said traJner Walker yesterday, "and I have trained many a race hotse of the so-called gentler sex. She not only takes to her work kindly and evidences a disposition to run faster than I want, but she is picking up weight during her training grind. I have not weighed Iter recently, but I know that she has gained at least fifty pounds in the last two weeks. Her staying qualities cannot be questioned, as she invariably is running stronger at the finish of her workouts than in any other part of them." Mr. Walker trained horses for many years, not only in this country, but abroad as well, and such a statement from him commands a lot of respect.
