- j At Aurora One Best Bet — CAS WELCH — In the Third Race. Mondays card at Aurora is given over entirely to the cheaper grade of horses, each of the seven races having the claiming clause attached. Five of the seven numbers are to be decided over the sprinting distances, the other two being at a mire and a mile and a sixteenth, respectively. The track is still in a bad condition and. until a break in the weather comes, it is to be expected that the poorer class of horses will be seen in competition. There are plenty of high-class tnorougnoreds on the grounds, but their owners are reluctant to take any chances with mem in the treacherous going. What is perhaps the best race on the card is the fifth number, a dash of five and a half furlongs, which engages eight of the sturdier type of sprinters. Among those entered are Paul Weidel II., Down Town, Theo. Fay and others of lesser note. BILL SETH— PEEP O.— INDRA. The progeny of the good sire Seth, are always able to negotiate muddy going and, for that reason, ulLL SETH is selected to cop the opener over the four and a half furlongs distance and framed for maiden two-year-olds. The latter raced over the Florida tracks the past winter, but was never raced over a track other than fast. PEEP O. gets the call lor tne place on the strength of his showing Friday, when he took the place behind Rocker. He gets plenty of weight off today and is bound to prove trouulesome. INDRA finished behind PEEP O. in the same race and would only have to repeat tnat effort to land in the money. MISS DRAl-i...., and BRO«,iCWAY appear to be the best of the others. POLYCARP— CARLOS ENRIQUE— ALETO. The second, over the three-quarters distance, should see POLYCARP romping home the winner. Track conditions matter little to this one and his races over the Florida courses were all that could be desired. If he has retained nis best form, dont see how he can be beaten in ..us company. CARLOS E:KIW ._ — is of the honest sort, always giving his best and he rates a good chance in this field. He was successful here last fall. ALETO gets the call for third on his showing in his race Friday. GEO. DEVER holds an outside chance. - CAS WELCH— REVOLT— ESCOLAXE. The Sanola Stock Farm Stables racer CAS WELCH, looks to be the safest betting proposition of the day in the third number. He is thoroughly fitted for his best and he would need to improve but little over his showing Saturday, when he placed behind William Diggins, to win this race with ease. REVOLT appears to be the next best, her race the other day being a fair effort. She was racing fast at the finish and the longer distance today should benefit her. ESCO-J LANE would only have to run his usual good race to hola the others safe for third money. AL STEbiu is liable to prove a real danger. POWER-JIM BETHEL— SINGING CRICKET. POWER put up a game race to win his initial start here, and he only has to repeat that effort to add another score to his credit. He showed a liking for the track and seems to be in tip-top condition. JIM BETHEL showed fairly well at the New Orleans tracks last winter and, if he has retained his best form, will be the one POWER has to beat to make victory certain. SINGING CRICKET should have benefited from her race Thursday. She was close up in the early stages, but seemed to tire. Expect her to show to much better advantage today. MYRRH is not without a chance. MEDDLING SKTH looms as a real danger. His race Friday was far below his best form. PAIL WEIDEL II*— THEO. FAY— DOWN TOWN. PAUL WEIDEL II. won his race on opening day so easily that he must be given the call here, although he is meeting better opposition. He gets seven pounds off that last race and would only have to repeat that effort to run his string of victories to two in a row. THEO. FAY was plainly not at his best when he made his first start here, but believe he can do much better and must be gien another chance today. DOWN TOWN is a game little racer and may be the one to surprise. If he has retained his best Tijuana form, do not see how he can fail to get in the money. SUT SUS figures to beat the others. LASSIE-LUCY KATE— SWEEPTOSA. The sixth is at a mile and is an open race, as all of those entered are more or less evenly matched. Figuring that LANNIE needed his race of Thursday, look for him to score today. LUCY KATE can do much better than her last start indicated, and believe she will give a better account of herself in this field. SWEEPTONA did not race so poorly her last out, even though failing to land in the money. If she were to show any improvement at all over that performance she will prove troublesome. FEHRAH is an outr sider with a good chance. DOROTHY ADAMS may prove a surprise, as she likes the going and is about due for a winning trip. FOOLSCAP— ABSTRACT— LEVOY. FOOLSCAP put up a good race behind Letter Six on opening day and a repetition of that effort should see him getting home the winner today, providing he improves. ABSTRACT is better suited to the distance of this race, a mile and a sixteenth, than in his initial appearance, and look for him to press FOOLSCAP all the way, if not trim him I LEVOY is possibly the best of the others. j TREASURER should not be ignored.
