* iixt/w* if ncirini7 Qicini?/ririrAiTO At Aurora One Best Bet — BALBOA — in the Sixth Race. I c s t b 0 t to a a s f ti J 0 ? t j * *t c . v i s J t f i j t j : I ] J ; I ■■ Another good program has been arranged 1 for Wednesday at the Fox River Valley l course, the Batavia Handicap, at one mite, i serving as the feature. A field of eight top s a notchers were named for this event and, if they all go to the post, a fine contest should be the outcome. Such good ones as Balboa, Golden Mac, Black on White, Cameo and others of slightly lesser class are scheduled i compete. i Supporting the feature number is the fifth race, an allowance affair over the five and half furlongs distance in which some fast 1 sprinters are to make the issue. ] An even better track should be in order for todays sport, providing there is no heavy i downfall of rain. The going was consider- i ably improved for Tuesdays racing and it ] would only need a couple of warm, sunshiny days to have the track in its best condition. I When that does occur, many of the now ex- 1 isting track records are apt to be shattered, for the class of horses racing here this year are far above those in former years. DIAGRAM— JIM BETHEL— WORTHMAN. The race run by DIAGRAM in his initial appearance here was far below his true form and it should not be considered when trying to center on the winner in the introductory dash. He was a fair sort of a horse at the Havana meeting and would only have to race in his best style to cop here. JIM BETHEL won easily in his last out and figures as the one to beat should he duplica-te that performance today. WORTHMAN showed a sudden form reversal in his last start and, if that race was no fluke, he may be able to share in the purse again today. CHARLES WHITNEY should show to better advantage with an improved track in order. GREEK FRIAR is not without a chance. ADVENTURESS— MARTHA ROOS— WHO BWWI ME. The second number will no doubt bring the limit number to the post, there being seventeen entered, lt will take a quick starter to escape the inevitable jamming soon after the start and for that reason ADVENTURESS is selected to score. She demonstrated in her last start that she was about as fast a starter as is quartered at the track and, with her inside post position today, expect her to add another win to her credit. MARTHA i | ROOS evidently needed her last out as she J seemed to tire after racing well to the stretch. She is bound to improve over that effort and may cause ADVENTURESS some trouble. WHO KNOWS ME is not far from a winning trip and should be the one to land the show end of the purse. ROCKING is usually well up at the finish. NEPTUNE is a possibility. ALETO— FORE LADY— CLEM THEISEN. The third is still another three-quarters dash with another limit field expected to perform. ALETO is good enough to win this race, providing she can get away to good advantage. Her races here have all been good ones and she only needs to find clear racing room to win this purse. FORE LADY lost a close decision in her initial appearance at this course and is liable to prove dangerous company if she races in the same manner today. CLEM THEISEN figures to hold the others safe for third. MY VALET 1 l i s a i i 1 ] i i ] I 1 i | J has not raced in some time and may need a race or two to fit him for his best. When right, he is a speedy one. KENDALL rates chance. THE ROLL CALI — TO RM EX TOR-CLIQUE. THE ROLL CALL raced fairly well in his first start in these parts and would need to improve but little over that effort to be the one to lead the others home in the fourth offering. He is usually a fast beginner and that should put him in good stead in the large field which is apt to go to the post. TORMENTOR was an easy winner of his race Monday and must be given consideration on that showing but doubt if he is possessed of the class of THE ROLL CALL. CLIQUE has reached top form and is to be feared. TOM P. may need a race or two before earning brackets. DOWNCAST— RLUEFISH— FA LI.EN LEAF. DOWNCAST was a speedy trick last year when racing over the Ohio circuit, and. if he has retained that same form, figures as the one to beat in the allowance race. He is equally at home over any kind of going and the distance of five and a half furlongs is all to his liking. BLUEFISH has been training satisfactorily and, a race back to his trials would make him a keen contender all the way. FALLEN LEAF raced in fair style her first start of the year, taking the lead at the rise of the barrier and holding it until nearing the finish, where she tired slightly. With that last effort serving as a tightener, she should show to good advantage today. SUN FAIRY, one of the Kilmer representatives, ran one good race at Saratoga last year and may go well in this cheaper company. BALBOA— GOLDEN MAC— CAMEO. In the Batavia Handicap. BALBOA figures to be the one to score. True, his last race was far from being an impressive one. but he was meeting some fast opponents, and could never seem to get going. He is to pack top weight today, sharing that honor with CAROM, but it is no weight for him, being but 112 pounds. His usual good race should see him getting home the easiest winner on the card. GOLDEN MAC rates as next best in the race, but BALBOA trimmed him so easily in their first meeting that it is hard to figure how he can turn the tables today. CAMEO ran a good race in her first appearance and may prove troublesome if she shows the same brand of speed today. CAROM is a little outclassed. BLACK ON WHITE may show to better advantage with an improved track la order. LUCY KATE— BAD LUCK— CHARLESETTA. The concluding number should see LUCY KATE annexing her first purse of the meeting. She has been training well and would only have to race back to her trials to score. BAD LUCK usually lands in the money and, in this company, he should fare as well. He is certainly well named, if nothing else. CHARLESETTA was fairly good racing over the New Orleans tracks and figures the best of the others. GEO. DEVER is not without a chance.
