race under claiming conditions for maiden two yearolds The lightly supported White Seal racing in the Penthorn Stables colors displayed the most speed and was in the lead virtually from the start to score handily from Greta Sister Maggie and the nine others which started Jockey I Hale had the winner away well and took command to show the way to the others at all stages and seemed to have much in reserve at the finish Greta one of the field horses was away slowly but worked her way up steadily and sprinted up into second place in the last seventy yards Sister Maggie outfinished the others H P Headleys Uncle Boot was sup ¬ posedly a good thing ruling a heavily backed favorite but could do no better than third place placeE E McCuans Pocket Molise wellbacked favorite had a comparatively easy time of it in the third race a dash of threequarters which brought eight good sprinters to the post He led for the entire distance and had a considerable margin over Alex Woodliffe at the finish The latter held second place safe virtually from the start while third place was the award of Spanish Star Spots which figured strongly here was a keen sufferer at the start being almost hopelessly left when he became tangled up in the webbing and was the last to leave Jockey R Patriquin piloted Continued on twentieth pace FAVORITES TRIUMPH Continued from first page I the winner his second winning ultimately won by a safe margin from C A Coyles Alborak in second place while Harned Brothers Estin garnered the minor end of the purse The race was a nipandtuck affair the field racing closely grouped to the final turn Booze Beyer showed in front to that stage with a display of the most early speed Anaconda was j always in striking distance of the pace ¬ maker and coming with a resolute challenge in the stretch raced into the leacl and held sway to the finish Alborak and Estin both came from behind in the last seventy yards to take down the minor placings
