PARTAKE, close up from the start, came to the outside when entering the home stretch and. finishing fast but swerving, took the lead in the last sixteenth and won drawing clear. GREY OF DAWN, hard ridden from the start, raced Into a brief lead, but was unable to keep it. THE MAID set the early pace and raced well throughout. LAMOUR raced well. HEARTACHE began flat-footed, but closed a big gap and finished fast. EGGNOG forced a fast early pace, but tired when put to a drive. COMMISSIONER CAHILL finished fast on the out-Bide from a slow beginning. SABRET and LADY GLASSEN showed early speed. The latter raced close up and was gaining slowly at the end. COONCAN lacked his usual early speed and raced on the outside of the leaders throughout. INVICTUS was hard ridden for the entire race. POWHATAN forced a fast early pace and made several challenges, but was held safe. THESTYLIS ran well, but could never improve over third place.
