PONY FOR BILLY MYERS HOMEWOOD, 111., June 24. Owners and trainers at Washington Park contributed today to a fund to purchase track superintendent Billy Myers a pony. It is the intention to secure the best saddle pony that can be had for use by the untiring track superintendent, who has brought the Washington Park racing strip to a state of perfection. Myers, at times, is up until night supervising the work of keeping the course in good condition and the horsemen are highly appreciative of his efforts. "I am not aiming at speed," said Myers in discussing the racing strip. "I do strive to keep the track so that it will be safe and springy and give, the horses confidence to extend themselves without being jarred." Horsemen contend that, in its present good condition, there will be few breakdowns over the track.
