High, Rapid Transit, Wrap and Calm all winners at this meeting, while Bal- Aviatrix and Bare Knees, the other en- j trants, have never faced the barrier. Too t appears to be the best of those entered, s basing on her fast race in her initial start. j The Fairfax Purse and the White Marsh j Handicap are the other features offered and small fields are scheduled to start in each of 1 a these races. Manchu, which is to start in the 1 mentioned race, looms as the best bet of day. Fly Hawk is given the preference in 1 handicap number. 1 SUN KIX— APPLIE TIE— KENTUCKY J COLONEL. A large field is entered for the opening number, a six and a half furlongs dash for -three-year-olds exclusively. We are taking j SUN KIN to prove best in this race, for he , performed fairly well in his first start of the . year and needs to improve but a little over that showing to be the one to land in front of , field. APPLIE PIE, a winner here last j fall, and which has been working in a satis-factory manner, is tabbed to land the place ■ portion of the coin. A race to her trials should find her close up at the finish. KEN- , TUCKY COLONEL has yet to win a race, he has shown promise at times and may good enough to hold the others safe for short end of the purse today. CAROL— POWDER— BABY GAR. The second offering engages another large field, this time over the seven-eighths distance. The good racer CAROL is selected to take down top honors in this tilt, for he has been showing good speed in his morning trials and appears ready for a winning effort at the first asking. A race to his last years form should find him beating this band with ease. POWDER has also been working well and, with his favorable impost today, may be the one to land the place money. BABY GAR turned in one fair race at Ha-I vana and only has to go in the same style here to prove a contender. TOO HIGH— RAPID TRANSIT— WRAP. In the Kindergarten Stakes TOO HIGH gets the call on her showing in her only start : date. She beat a good field on that occasion and set a new track record for the distance, j easing u at tha end. It wasnt so much that she won as the manner in which 1 she won, which inclines us to believe that she I may be a filly of more than ordinary ability. . She is to carry two pounds less today than 1 her previous start, and we expect her to come home in front again. RAPID TRANSIT. , which had previously broken the same record I that was bettered by TOO HIGH, landed in back of the latter in their last meeting and I appears to have slightly more speed than 1 the others which have started, so is given second preference. WRAP turned in a far r more impressive win than did CAEM, al- - though t..e latter ran in slightly faster time. . BARE KNEES is a reported good one, but t d b j t s j j 1 a 1 1 1 J j , . , j ■ , : j 1 I . 1 , I I 1 r - . t will have to show her worth in a race to be given consideration. MANCHU— BURNING GLASS— GENERAL BULLARD. MANCHU appears all over the best in the Fairfax Purse and, likewise, the best play on the card. He has two seconds in as many starts to his credit here and he needs to improve but slightly over either one of those performances to beat this f iel to the wire with ease. BURNING GLASS, which is still maiden, has been turning in some fast workouts and may go well enough to land closest to MANCHU today. GENERAL BU_ LARD has also boca training in a satisfactory manner and has a good chance of collecting the short end of the coin. The others do not call for much. FLY HAWK— AFTERGLOW— LA MORTE. The weight assignments for the White Marsh Handicap bring several of the intended starters close together for top honors, but we believe FLY HAWK holds a good chance of annexing the major p« rtie n of the purse. The latter put up a good race in his first start here and it may be that he needed that race. He is favorably weighted for this race and only has to run his usual race to come home in front. The most contention should come from AFTERGLOW ami LA MORTE. These two figure close together for second place, with the former holding a slight edge. BLACK FRIARS last race should be thrown out of the calculations. 1 IOLDEN SPIRE may need a race or two before earning brackets. KANDUIT— ROBERT MAMIKIr-ALLETACHK. The sixth race is over the mile and seventy yards distance and here we take the Bedwell racer KANDUIT to prove a repeater. She was a game winner of her last start and only has to go in the same manner here to make it two in a row. ROBERT MANDEL turned in a good effort in his only start here and may be the one to cause Ike winner the most trouble. He is in good ffirm at present and capable of winning himself. ALLETACHE was a winner over this track last fall and, if she has retained that same form, may have a word to say as to the. ultimate result. PARCHESIE would earn first call if the track became muddy. GRAND BEY may find his impost a little too much for him. VALENTINO— SIR LEONID— SPUGS. The final race on the card, a test of a mile and a sixteenth, should see another repeater turning up in VALENTINO. This veteran turned in a most impressive win in his first start of the yea. and a repetition of that same effort today would make him a hard one to beat. Sir Leonid usually landed in the money in his races at the CTMOOrt City tracks and we think he is good enough to get a slice of this purse. SPUGS is on the im-1 prove and should not e taken too lightly. He seems to have a liking for this track and, when he finds his best speed, is going to be a hard one to down. GAYLY rates close up, as does JUST FOLKS. ■
