RUMOR ABOUT REIGH COUNT Story of Derby Favorite Being in Danger of Breakdown Meets With Ridicule . LOUISVILLE, Ky., May 19.— There was some early apprehension about Reigh Count when a story was abroad that he was in imminent danger of bowing and that he had been "tubbed" most cf last night. It is remembered that the colt was worked wearing four bandages in all of his preparations for the Derby, and In his one race at the meeting, which he won with case, he also had the bandages. There is nothing unusual in working a horse in bandages. It is a precaution that is taken by many trainers, but, of course, much was made of that fact when the rumor was abroad that the colt was threatened with a breakdown. Many just considered the rumof as one that so frequently may be heard of a favorite for any big event, and it was generally not believed, though it mads a difference with others, who were searching about for something in the big field with which to beat Mrs. Hertz colt. An investigation revealed that the whole rumor grew out of a slight cut that the son of Sunreigh had suffered. It was of no consequence and the "tubbing" rumor came from the fact that when it was found that some sand was in the trifling injury, it was washed out. Nothing was thought of this minor hurt and the fact of its having any effect on the running of the colt was ridiculed. «
