OMAHA SPRING RACING NEARS OMAHA, Neb., May 19. — Over 200 horses are now at Ak-Sar-Ben field awaiting the opening of the annual meeting of the Ak-Sar-Ben Exposition Co., which gets under way on June 1, and it is expected that many more will arrive next week as applications for stabling accommodations have been pouring into the secretarys office and all are desirous of getting on the grounds early in order that their charges may become accustomed to the course. That this years meeting will be bigger and better than ever is indicated by the fact that the class of thoroughbreds now quartered at the track are of a higher grade than any that have performed at Omaha in other years and that many racing estblishments prominent in the turf world have applied for stalls. John Carey, who is now making a tour of the eastern tracks in the behalf of the Omaha organization, reports that interest is keen among the horsemen that he has solicited and he has the promise of several owners that they will ship some of their star racers West to compete in the races to be run at Ak-Sar-Ben field.
