ARLINGTON THE MECCA ♦ Immense Shipment of Horses Reach Big Chicago Track. ♦ Special Train From Louisville Brings Over 100 Thoroughbreds — Many Stars Included. » The biggest shipment of thoroughbreds to arrive in Chicago since racing was revived in this section came in on a special horse train of nine cars from Louisville early Friday morning over the Pennsylvania Railroad. The shipment approximated 103 horses and included many of the turf stars that have been seen under colors at Lexington and I Louisville this spring. Included in the arrivals were quite a number of eligibles to the American Derby and other stakes to be decided during the meeting of twenty-four days duration that is scheduled to open at Arlington Park next Monday. The horses arrived in good condition and were unloaded and placed in their quarters at the track without any untoward incident. Included in the shipment were twenty-eight horses of the stable of Jake Lowenstein ; fifteen belonging to the Bloomfield Stable ; seventeen of the division of Senator J. N. Camdens stable, in charge of Roscoe Goose ; ten belonging to the Three Ds Stable of W. T. Waggoner, wealthy Texas oil operator and sportsman ; fifteen belonging to Stuyvesant Peabody, which came in charge of Bob McGarvey ; seven of the Longridge Stables band in charge of W. G. Yanke, and ten belonging to C. H. Knebelkamp. CHICAGO AMONG ARRIVALS. Fred M. Grabners Chicago, champion western handicap horse of last year, was the star of the Lowenstein stable. He is an intended starter in the American National Premier j Handicap, to be run- at Arlington Park opening day. Among the others in the Lowen- stein outfit were Rurik, Blensefield, Laddie, I avid L. and Mally Jane. The latter was recently secured from Jimmie McGee. The j Lowenstein string includes a number of horses that are the property of L. M. New-gass and Morris Vehon, both well known Chicago sportsmen. Mr. Vehon. who races under the name of the Royal Stable, a few days ago purchased the contract of jockey Frank ; Chiavetta and that rider arrived with the stable, as did also jockeys L. McDermott and jit. Yelton. The Bloomfield Stable was headed j by Blackwood and Dowagiac, both eligibles to the America n Derby. | The Peabody Stable included Flat Iron, one of the best of the western handicap horses, j"and which is a potential candidate for honors ; in the Premier Handicap. Trainer McGarvey : announced that the stables good three-year-old Martie Flyr.n would be here after his : engagement in the Fairmount Derby. Jockeys ,W. Fronk and Carl Meyer accompanied the Peabody Stable here. Meyer, who is leading ■ the American riders, was out of the saddle for the past two weeks due to an injury he sustained at Churchill Downs. He expects to be able to resume riding the second week of the Arlington Park meeting. PLENTY TWO-YEAR-OLDS. , The Three Ds Stock Farm Stables con-; signment included mostly two-year-olds. Another carload of the stables horses will arrive here next Sunday. This stable is well supplied with jockeys, having at its command C. Yates. A. Fermin, Stanley Cooper, J. R. Kelly and Lee Hardy. The latter, who led the American riders last year, was in-capicated early in the Churchill Downs meeting, but wa.s able to ride one day before leaving that track. The Camden Stable consisted largely of two-year-olds, bred by their owner at his Hartland stud in Kentucky. The Longridge Stable numbered among its members Bar None and Longridge, the stables pair of eligibles to the American Derby. Jockey Joe Kederis, under contract to the Stable, arrived with the horses. The Knebelkamp band comprised a number of useful horses. Jockeys M. McGonigle and W. Dellow arrived with owner Knebelkamp. G. Ernest Hall. J. Nichols .. and J. G. Bussey are recent arrivals from Maryland. Mr. Hall brought Nat Evens, Memory and Ballroom Flirt. The Bussey Stable comprised .the good plr.ters Lewis and Just Folks. The • Nicholson Stable included five horses that won in Maryland this spring. Trainer W. H. Bringloe, who recently arrived from Canada with the stable of J. E. Seagram, sent Solace, the stable:; star three-j year-old, by van to Fairmount this morning. The colt i.s scheduled to start in the Fair-| t mount Derby, and after that race he will be returned to Arlington Park. Grant arrived Friday, and announced that his horses Frightful and Flora M., which he shipped from Aurora to Louisville, would be brought to Arlington Park next Sunday in the same car that Bob Rogers will ship his stable of ten horses. G. W. Glic": arrived from Aurora with his stable of fivo horses. The Mira Monte Stable of EL J. Macomber, California breeder and sportsman, is at the Arlington Park track, in charge of II. W. Hoag. The stable includes some useful racers, among the number being Sun God II., Buckeye Belle, War Hawk, War Buddy, War Court and War Rose. Eight horses of the stable of Clyde Van Dusen arrived from Aurora, in charge of trainer Robert Steele. The latter announced that Clyde Van Dusen, the stables crack two-year-old, had been shipped to Fairmount Park to fill a stake engagement, and that after that race he would be sent to Arlington Park. The horses that Van Dusen now has at Churchill Downs will be sent to La-tonia. The stables horses at Arlington Park will be ridden by thj clever apprentice Wil-bert Noel, who arrived here today. Jesse bpencer, Kentucky turfman, is a recent arrival at Arlington Park from Lexington. His establishment consists of Fannie J., Big Money, On Up, Sweet Mandy, Ban-set, Barber John, Peaches, Japlac, Red Face, Capt. Dale, Willr. and Peach Rose. The Sanola Stock Farm Stable, in charge of T. J. Shannon, is another recent addition to the Arlington Park thoroughbred colony. The stable comprises Morocco, Cotlogomer, Frank Lake, Reighthorne, Colored Servant, Serajevo, Spring Poet, Sun Altos, Pee Wee, Gibbons, Blueway, and Pigeon Wing II. The Glenview Farm Stable of Stanley Kunz, well known Chicago owner, is one of the largest in training at Arlington Park and includes quite a number of promising two-year-olds. Bradford Brinton, Chicago sportsman, is represented at the local track by the horses Kickapoo. Shasta Negra, Captor, and Leve-lyn, which are in charge of George Strate, a trainer of long experience. Besides these Strate is handling the horses Bonnie Khayyam, Chat, Wonderful and Virginia Lightning for Robert C. Winmill, and three others, Resourceful, Ililika, and Linger, in his own interest. The Joliet Stable, in which Parky McFar-land is a partner, -has been at Arlington Park for some time, having been shipped there from Lexington, Ky. The stable, which is an extensive one and is in charge of Tom Doyle, includes Rumpelstiltskin. Packys Pet, Monastery, Captain Donan, Freya, Far Over, Zita McCarthy, Black Velvet, Hot Time, Samaron, Lnola B., Miss Lindy, Rock Crusher, Rib Grass a-nd Blue Beans. The veteran trainer W. H. Snearley is now In charge of the stable of Mrs. P. P. Flaherty of Chicago, having succeeded former jockey Tom Cameron. The stable, which just arrived from Louisville, includes Tiger Flowers, an eligible to the American Derby ; Linda, Milton Moore, Strike, Sobrose, and Pole Star.
