HAMILTON TURF NOTES # $ HAMILTON, Ont., June 25. Paul Ciceri of Toronto was secured by the management of the Hamilton Jockey Club to fill the position of placing judge during the meeting at Hamilton. He will assist Joseph McLennan and A. R. Louden in this capacity. Al Weston, who was stationed to act as a placing judge for the Hamilton meeting, was moved into the stewards stand, owing to the forctd absence of presiding steward Francis Nelson. John F. Farrell, custodian of the jockeys headquarters, reports that there are fifty riders listed to take part in the sport during the present meeting. Edward Arlington, who raced his band of horses on Canadian tracks until the close of the recent Blue Bonnets meeting, shipped all of his horses back to Aqueduct, where they will be campaigned until the announced sale of all his thoroughbred holdings on June 29. - . L. Broag, who trains the horses owned by J. Kirwin, notified racing secretary Joseph McLennan to declare Bolt of Thunder and Jubal Early, owned by O. A. Kintz, out of their respective races, as he was unable to secure cars to transport the racers from Montreal to Hamilton. Jockey W. L. Smith, who was formerly in the employ of William Zeigler, Jr., and who rode with success on the metropolitan tracks, was an arrival, and immediately donned silks. Jockeys L. Feeney and L. Woodstock, under contract to H. Neusteter, joined the riding colony here, and both were seen under colors today. Temporary licenses to ride on the Canadian Racing Assocations were granted to jockeys L. Woodstock and W. Smith by the stewards representing that body. Kai Shek, one of the best juveniles in the Seagram Stable, was taken down with fever while being transported from Montreal, and the stewards permitted trainer J. Whyte to withdraw him from competition in the Mountain Valley Plate. The Hastings Stables good campaigner. Drawing Board, grabbed his quarter while being given a preliminary gallop this morning, resulting in the horse not being in condition to race In the afternoon, and trainer A. Brent had him excused from fulfilling his engagement in the sixth race.
