SALT LAKE MEETING NEAR Lagoon Park to Open Saturday, June 30, for Thirty-Nine Days of Good Racing. SALT LAKE CITY, Utah. June 25— Indications point to the greatest race meeting in the history of Utah, as final preparations are under way for the opening of the thirty-one day program at Lagoon Park, under the management of William P. Kyne. The meeting will open Saturday, June 30, and continue until August 4. More than 550 horses, gathered from Omaha, Tulsa and Kansas City tracks, as well as from stock farms in Oregon, Washington. California and Utah, will furnish tho competition at the beautiful Davis County mile course. Among the leading turfmen who are bringing the best of their stables to the Utah track are C. B. "Cowboy" Irwin, the Wyoming rancher ; M. E. Syufy, Z. E. McGregor of Claremore, Okla., and N. Teller, all coming from Omaha. The starting gate, invented by W. It. Jarvis. will be used throughout the meeting. Mr. Kyne is convinced that this contrivance will meet with the unanimous approval of the public. The gate was given a trial at the Lexington, Ky., spring meeting. Posting of the straight mutuel prices before the race is run is planned by Mr. Kyne. The general manager himself supervises the calculations and he is confident that his calculating crew will be able to cope with the situation. The straight machines will be closed as the horses are being placed in the starting stalls and the prices posted just before the horses are r nt away.
