LAST HARD TRIAL TODAY ♦ Blue Larkspur to Devote Rest of Week to Light Exercise. ♦ The Choctaw Does Impressive Prep, Going Mile In Mud In 1:41— Ervast Sent Five-eighths in 1:18%. ♦ LOUISVILLE. Ky., May. 13.— Blue Larkspur, E. R. Bradleys favorite for Saturday* running of the Kentucky Derby, which arrived at Churchill Downs Sunday morning from Idle Hour Farm, near Lexington, this morning had his first exercise over the course of the Derby decision. With Bay Beauty, which also is expected to carry the popular colors of Mr. Bradley in Saturdays race, Blue Larkspur was sent an easy half mile in :50%. He appeared well suited by the muddy footing and had his trial in a light rain. Bay Beauty was timed in :50%. retiring slightly off his stable companion after keeping on even terms with him for the first quarter, which they went in :24%. Botanical, another of Mr. Bradleys Derby eligibles, but out of consideration as a starter, was sent three-eighths in :43% as final preparation for his engagement in a mile race Tuesday. The latter arrived from Idle Hour Farm Sunday, as did the older Buddy Bauer. With Bay Beauty, they came by railroad, while Blue Larkspur, with a pony as companion, made the trip by motor van. Trainer H. J. Thompson supervised both the loading and unloading of the horses, all of which shipped in good fashion. WINDY CITY STARTS TODAY. According to Thompson, the trials of Blue Larkspur and Bay Beauty Monday morning were the final preliminary ones to their final hard workouts for Saturdays races. It is Thompsons intention to work the pair over the Derby course Tuesday and following those gallops only light exercises will be required to bring them to the race in top condition. F. M. Grabners Windy City and Mrs. Graham Fair Vanderbilts Chicatie worked over the muddy track Monday morning. The former went three-eighths in :39 easily, while Chicatie was timed in :53% for a half mile. Windy City, which has taken his preparation impressively, is scheduled to make his initial start as a three-year-old in the Trial Purse on Tuesdays program. Trainer Jake Lowenstein is satisfied with the condition of the son of Upset and is confident that he will race in his best form on his debut. ERVAST IN IMPRESSIVE MOVE. Sunday morning over a fast track, trainer Walter Fenwick sent Ervast five-eighths in 1 :00%, easily and impressively. The Choctaw, with Oui Monsieur pacing him for the first three-quarters, went a mile out of the chute in 1:41, the first quarter in :23y5. half-mile in :46% and three-quarters in 1 :1375. The same period of training witnessed Unset Lad in an easy trial over three furlongs for which he was timed in :35%, the Belle Isle Stables candidate having his best speed for the light work. Prince Pat went a mile in 1 :45% and Double Heart the same distance in 1 :46%, both colts being hard urged. Karl Eitel went the Derby route in 2 :09% handily. He went the quarter in :23% ; half in :4Sys ; three-quarters in 1 :14% ; mile in 1 :41%, and mile and an eighth in 1:53%. C. E. Durnell. trainer of the Three Ds Stock Farm, also worked Pan-chio and Calf Roper a mile each Sunday. The former was timed in 1 :44% and the latter in 1:44%. ■ ♦
