Ross, assisttnt n: n ■ or of Havre De Irace course, accompnn -«d ! y Mrs. Ross, arrived from Maryland this morning to visit relatives here and to attend the Kentucky Derby next Saturday. Barby Shannon has returned from New Orleans. He went down to go over the affairs of the new Louisiana Jockey Club and to make a report to his employer. Col. K. R. Bradley. He had the assistirice of an expert and a thorough audit was made, out of which suggestions have come for some changes for the next racing season. Julius G. Reeder, assistant racing secretary for a number of tracks, spent Monday here enroute to Cleveland. George Wingfield, owner of the Nevada Stock Farm. Reno, is here for an inspection of his stallions, Honeywood and General Thatcher, and a band of mares which are kept at Thomas Carr Piatts farm on Bethel Pike. He is the owner also of the stallion Volta, sire this year of nine two-year-old winners of sixteen races. Volta is at the farm in Nevada, where Mr. Wingfield has another band of mares. Raymond Belmont, owner of Belray Farm. Virginia, has returned home after a brief visit here to see his mares at Greenwich Stud. Mr. and Mrs. J. Temple Gwathmey. of New York, are here to visit several of the breeding farms and to remain until after the Derby.
