! CHICAGO TURF NOTES | * — $ Washington Park stables have not yet begun to fill, owing to the racing of so many horses on the Aurora and Kentucky tracks, but the time is close at hand wUn there will be as much activity around the stalls and on the track as there is around the new stands and buildings which are nearing completion. Superintendent Tom Young is now at Churchill Downs, but will return in time to have the racing strip, chutes, etc., in perfect condition. Visitors to the course find much to interest them at the stable of the Bartelstein-Unna string, which includes Golden Prince, winner of the Coffroth Handicap and the largest money-winner of the year. This string, which also includes King Nadi, is the most important now quartered at the track. The condition of Boni Fern, a three-year-old filly by Boniface, has been giving trainer Harry Unna and his assistant, William Nolan, some concern. The filly contracted car fever enroute from Tijuana and for a. while it was thought she would not survive. One of the few two-year-olds now quartered at Washington Park is Tariff, a gelded son of Thibodaux, owned by G. N. Cardozo, a Chicago contractor and trained by his son George. He is being pointed to the Thomas Curran Memorial, a stake of ,000 added value, to be run during the Washington Park meeting. Cardozo is expecting Aunt Ann, a four-year-old, which has been turned out for a long time, and one or two others to be shipped here under his care this week. One of the few stables at the Homewood track is that of H. G., Jr., and W. H. Goelitz, trained by F. Veysey. This includes Djinn, a promising Omar Khayyam colt ; Social Mug. Sir John K. Jack Horgan, Mill Hand and Generous Gift. Sir John K. was a winner in the latter part of the Tijuana meeting. Social Mug was a frequent performer and occasionally a winner in the early part of the Tijuana meeting. He was nominated for the Coffroth Handicap, but did not go in the race. He has shown some sprinting ability, one of his victories of 1028 having been in the Ilollis Claiming Stakes, when he ran for E. M. Byors and was trained by Max Hirsch. He ran at Tijuana in races with Ervast, Nusakan and other good sprinters.
