THE ULSTER was a forward factor most of the way and held on fairly well during the final drive. FINNSTER could never get to the leaders. SPRING closed ground. DANTE tired. ROODLES displayed keen speed from the start, failed to withstand the winners challenge, but was much the best of the remainder. ORESTES II. was away poorly, but steadily improved his position and outstayed EATONDEN. The latter had no mishaps and tired. FAIR ARGUMENT was away slowly. LANSQUENET tired badly in the final eighth, as did POP BELL.
