BELMONT PARK NOTES $ # NEW YORK, N. Y., May 27. William Woodward had a deal of satisfaction out of the victory of letee-Wrack in the Metropolitan, for the son of Wrack was bred at Mr. Woodwards Belair Stud in Maryland. Mrs. R. V. McKims Beaupurc was M badly injured by his fall in the Appleton Memorial Steeplechase that fears were expressed that he would have to be destroyed. J. W. Healy has taken ever Jims Bob and three two-year-olds and will train them for J. E. Gaffney. E. K. Thornton, part owner of the Pen-thorn Stable, was an arrival from Kentucky. His band, in charge of Milo Shields, is due here next Wednesday. « T. W. "Chicago" OBrien made his firat appearance of the meeting. John and Madden, with pardonable pride, remarked that he had sold both the dam of Starpatic and Lady Buyer to Willis Sharpe Kilmer while they were carrying the foals. Starpatic is a son of Simpatic, and he brought 5, 000 at the Kilmer sale, conducted before the racing. Lady Buyer is a daughter of Lady Bijur and she was winner of the first race of the day. The division of the Three Ds Stock Farm Stable, which will race he-re, arrived at Aqueduct from Louisville, in charge of F. Mo Elroy. The horses shipped in good condition. A. J. "Tex" Grenet is confined to his home by slight illness. J. E. Madden sold the two-year-old Bourbon Maid to the Lumac Stf.ble, and she has been turned over to J. Hastings to train. A band of two-year-olds, the property of W. A. Miller, arrived from Kentucky Saturday. Jockey P. Walls returned from Toronto, where he went to ride Sortie in the Toronte Cup. The horse was also returned to Belmont Park. Jockey G. Fields resumed riding following a three days suspension. Clem McCarthy, broadcaster, was an arrival from Kentucky. The following horses are on the schooling list at Belmont Park : Bird of Prey, Contemplate, Expedite, Fred Whitman, Great American. Great Rock, Mocha, Mordicus, Red Curl and War Flier. There was an influx of horses from Toronto, where the Woodbine meeting closed Saturday. They included divisions from the Eastland Farm Stables, Flying Horse Farm and the combined Salmon and Wilson stables. Sortie, which Max Hirsch shipped to Toronto to fulfill his engagement in the Toronto Cup, returned today. Golden Arrow, which accompanied him, was lost to the stable via the claiming route. Reports from Louisville are that II. J. "Dick" Thompson is progressing rapidly and will be on his way to Belmont Fark in a few days. E. B. McLeans Toro, winner of the Grainger Memorial Handicap, is due at Belmont Park today to fulfill his engagement in the Suburban Handicap to be run on Saturday. Toro is coming East in charge of James Mooney and will be stabled in the stable occupied by J. W. Healey. T. J. Healey returned from Toronto yesterday. He had a profitable week at the Canadian course. Desert Light, which was caught in the strands when the Australian barrier refused to function properly on Saturday, is not seriously hurt, according to trainer Gordon. The colt is bruised and sore, but will be rested up for a few days.
