INAUGURAL AT POLO PARK Long Prices and New Track Records Feature of Opening Day Program. WINNIPEG, Man., June 17— The racing season opened at Iolo Iark, Winnipeg, Saturday with glorious weather before a second opening day crowd of enthusiasts. Some ovg prices were hung up during the afternoon, the first three laces calling for fifteen, ten, and twenty-five to one, respectively. The feature of the day, the Western Canada Handicap for western Canadian-brcds, of ,500, of which the winners end was JTO, brought out a tield of eleven. Silent Stranger, the f ur-year-old gelding by Jas. T. Clark — Mini Larue M.. saving ground throughout, pa— Oi the finish a lcrgth to the good. Olive Whittier followed the leader gamely, but could never get up. The track was lightnirg fast, with a remarkable cushion, and one track reeord after another went by the boards. Gene Oliver, who had not run previously this year, ran seven-eighths in 1 :27%, as against the previous time of 1 :28.
