I.AI10K was away slowly but, racing in his best form, moved into contention in the first quarter and, continuing gamely, wore down SIK ARGO in tbe last eighth. SIR ARGO, benefited by a good ride! moved into the lead with a rush, but was not good enough for the winner. SWEET SENTIMENT raced prominently throughout and finished gamely. MAT MAHONEY also ran well. PASSALONG dropped out of it after the lir.-t quarter. CHIEF PETTIJOHN began fast and, showing fine speed, raced with ALTAVAR and drew away from the latter in the last sixteenth to win with much in reserve. ALTAVAR was away in a tangle and showed fine speed to race into the lead, but tired in the last sixteenth. CALCITE, away well and hard ridden, raced prominently most of tbe way. The latter, probably best, showed the most early speed, but w;ts taken back in the last eighth from au inner position and came again right at the end. OT1LLA was going well when she swerved into deeper going and tired. JIM McMAHON suffered some interference in the last eighth when MARY GARDNER bumped him. HAMCA was taken out of it at the first turn. COLORED JOHN raced well. MASTER ACK held on fairly well during the stretch. PARTICIPATE, almost left at the post, clow d an immense gap and finished fast. ARMEE NAYEE alvo came fast in the last quarter.
