KANSAS CITY RACING BEGINS Ideal Weather and Track Condi ¬ tions Prevail for Inaugural at Riverside Park Course KANSAS CITY Mo May 29 The 1930 racing season got away to a good start at Riverside Park this afternoon The sport was inaugurated before a large crowd Ideal racing weather prevailed for the opening and I the wellmatched fields together with close finishes kept the crowds enthusiasm at a high pitch throughout the afternoon afternoonThe The first race which was an allowance affair for twoyearolds over the four fur ¬ longs course resulted in a victory for the first time starter Travelair from the stable of J E Miller with B F McClain furnishing Hal Dwyer the second horse and Belial from the stable of H Torriente taking the show portion of the purse The winner was quick to find his stride and assuming the lead was rated along in front and at the finish had a length and a half to spare over Hal Dwyer which was the quickest to begin but could not keep pace with the winner Belial finished fast in the last eighth and at the end was only a half length back of Hal Dwyer Early and Heelantoe after show ¬ ing brief early speed tired badly in the final eighth eighthThe The winner was bred at the Jones Stock Farm at Parnell Mo and is one of the first of the get of Cloister CloisterA A stirring finish resulted in the second race which was a claiming affair for the cheaper grade of platers over the five and onehalf furlongs route when Porto de Oro from the stable of Cluley Pools triumphed over H Rummages Spring Poet in a hard drive The winner had to be the best as he began from the extreme outside and was forced to race wide losing much ground but continued gamely all through the last quarter and at the finish was a neck in front of Spring Poet The latter lost much ground by racing wide all the way and made a determined effort all through the stretch but could not get to the winner Two Rings which raced into third place was prominent all the way Kin Folks which was backed into favoritism was buffeted about in the early stages and after being knocked back could never re J cover and was far back all the way
