DIXIE LAND TO CHICLERO Mrs Chesnys Sprinter Defeats False Pride and Genuine Horses Largely Neglected In Betting1 Aguia AguiaScore Score In Majority of Fainnount Park ParkRaces Races Pcnarc Captures 1ourth COLLINSVILLE 111 May 29 Mrs J Chesnys Chiclero made his winning score two out of three races this afternoon when he earned the verdict over a band of good sprint ¬ ers in the Dixie Land Purse which featured the Fairmount Park program False Pride was second and Genuine Mrs W J Potters highly respected sprinter was third thirdWhile While Chiclero was not favorite he re ¬ ceived some support and his victory was not as surprising as the results of some of the others races in which horse more or less neglected in the betting were returned the winners It was distinctly another offday for the favorites favoritesHarry Harry Woods saddled the winner of the first race when Tin Hat proved much the best Jim Ormont was second with Grif W third thirdApprentice Apprentice G Cimerak had the mount on the winner and used good judgment in restraining the victor back of the early pace and saving him for the final drive As the pacemakers sped along in front he guided his mount up on the inside and came away when ready to an easy victory having three lengths advantage as the race ended Jim Ormont which raced to second place gained first after going a half and as they entered the stretch enjoyed what seemed a safe lead but could not match strides with the winner Griff W came with a belated rush near the end that gained third place Raga bald was installed a pronounced favorite but failed to race to expectations expectationsBY BY WIDE MARGIN MARGINJeanne Jeanne Adele a fouryearold filly by Sir Barton and Blue Paradise was returned win ¬ ner of the threequarters second race when she led home Queen Whims by six lengths while the latter had a fourlength margin over Afterglow which was up in time to take third by a scant half length from Hades HadesHoward Howard Lee was the favored one in this and raced prominently for the first half mile but dropped back when stricken with a hem ¬ orrhage and was eased up The winner after many efforts scored an easy victory and apprentice C Callahan just coastad her along without much exertion Queen Whims which raced to the place gave a repetition of her good effort prior to this engagement and was much the best of the others After ¬ glow turned in a brilliant performance when he came from last place to gain the third position Meyer Keulks Western Princess fur ¬ nished a surprise when she won the third race which brought together ten of the lower grade sprinters at threequarters Mortana the heavily backed favorite was second and King at Arms saved third thirdThe The winner raced in vastly improved form and displayed high speed from the start The Badger under the guidance of Joe Cav ens went right into the lead closely fol ¬ lowed by the victor and after they had traversed half a mile it was obvious that the daughter of Westy Hogan would take his measure When Pendergrass released his restraining hold she drew into a long lead and maintained it to the end Mortana found the winner too much and his game effort to catch her was of no avail He got his placing easily ahead of King at Arms ArmsWINNING WINNING COMBINATION COMBINATIONPenarc Penarc and jockey Joe Cavens proved a winning combination leading home Blind Hills Thistle Arious and four other useful platers in the one mile and onesixteenth fourth race The winner which was neglected in the speculation paid off libarally considering his previous good performance Hula showed the most early speed and held command as they rounded the first turn closely followed by Blind Hills which forced the pace under stout restraint Yargee assumed the pacesetting when Hula dropped back but Blind Hills maintained his runnerup position They held this order of running until they reached the turn out of the back stretch where Cavehs rushed Penarc to Blind Hills which had drawn to the front and after a brief duel the F Wright respresentative gave way badly The winner continued with good speed to an easy victory Blind Hills was four lengths in the lead of Thistle Arious which drew the bulk of speculation The downfall of the George Collins racer registered the fourth straight defeat of favorites
