OFFDAY AT THISTLE DOWN No Outstanding Feature on Pro ¬ gram at Cleveland Track Johnson X Caimlcns Belgian Lass Triumphs Triumphsin in First Race Course Dries DriesOut Out Fast CLEVELAND Ohio June 9 There was no special feature on the program at Thistle Down Park this afternoon Large and well matched fields in six of the seven races which made up the card provided decidedly interesting racing however replete with close finishes finishesA A cool breeze swept the course from the west but otherwise conditions were ideal The sun shone brilliantly a welcome change following Saturdays drizzling rain The track had recovered wonderfully fast being at its best and the attendance unusually large for Monday MondayJ J N Camden furnished the winner of the initial race in Belgian Lass which came fast on the outside turning for home and con ¬ tinuing courageously in the final stages headed Justa Queen in the last few yards Justa Queen saved second after having set the pace Cloimar was third Donna Ban and Fair Ester were prominent in the early stages but tired tiredAfter After threatening to win in his previous races here Dr Charlie finally made good for E D Russ in the second He came to the outside of Brushing and Jack Rankins enter ¬ ing the stretch and taking command a few furlongs out retained a safe lead thereafter It was only after a thrilling drive that Me gazza coming from behind secured the sec ¬ ond portion of the purse from Resolute Brushing and Jack Rankins both tired in the stretch stretchVandion Vandion showed the way to the stretcji in the third race with Miss Sourire and Crasher in closest attendance When straightened out for the final drive Crasher had the most in reserve and earned the purse after a mild drive for G S Harrison Jr Miss Sourire outstayed the tiring Vandion for second place with Clay Pigeon fourth Sad ¬ dle Skirts from which better things were expected began slowly and was never promi ¬ nent nentLyons Lyons Ross Ballot Girl scored her sec ¬ ond victory of the present meeting when she accounted for the fourth race rather han ¬ dily Prospect Master Samover and McKim was the order until the far turn was reached Ballot Girl then moved up and wore down Master Samover in the final furlong McKim secured the short end of the purse from the fast finishing Pessimistic and Prospect tired in the stretch stretchAdams Adams Apple carried the colors of H W Miller to victory in the fifth race He came fast and gamely on the outside of the leaders entering the stretch and in a game finish out ¬ stayed Prince Ronald The latter had taken the lead after making the far turn and only succumbed in the last few yards Laurie finished resolutely in the stretch to secure third Following the running of this race Laurie was claimed for 1000 by Wm Mikel SonTaking Son Taking command midway on the back stretch W S Dudleys Easter Morn enjoyed a comfortable lead thereafter in the sixth race which attracted the smallest but most select field of the lay Aimee Goldsmith proved to be much the best of the others al ¬ though no match for the winner Spanflow raced into third place after Bootee tired While en route to the post Spanflow unseated his rider three times and eventually ran away riderless for a quarter of a mile at top speed His entry will be refused here in fu ¬ ture as he also acted unruly in the paddock
