Scared o Nothin E P Summerfields good threeyearold son of Wrack and Tidings was a cantering win ¬ ner of the Aviation Purse over one mile the best offering on todays program at Long Branch The Aviation was framed ex ¬ clusively for threeyearolds and attracted an overnight entry list of seven Mrs James Arthurs Berber raced to the place and Colonel Bell performing for E H Von Roenn was third a length and a half in front of the early pacemaker Bag Smasher SmasherDainty Dainty had the mount on the winner and kept him under stout restraint until rounding out of the back stretch When called upon the Summerfield colt bounded to the front increased his margin with every stride round ¬ ing the turn continued to draw out all through the stretch while still under restraint and was being eased up eight lengths in front of Berber as the finishing line was reached Berber was a trailer in the early running but gradually improved his position and closed with fine speed through the final fur ¬ long and though never able to threaten the winner was easily the best of the remainder of the field Colonel Bell was another that was unable to keep up early but benefited by saving a great deal of ground turning into the home stretch was along in the last seventy yards to wear down the faltering Bag Smasher The latter had so much taken out of him trying to keep pace with the win ¬ ner in the first five furlongs that he stopped utterly when the real racing began The winner covered the one mile in 1 41 41MAXY MAXY SHRIXERS PRESENT PRESENTA A large crowd augmented by many Shrin ers who are holding their convention in Toronto was on hand Though the weather was decidedly cold the racing strip was the fastest of the meeting meetingDoug Doug McGregor local owner put over a good thing in the first race when Bokhara was returned an easy winner over six fur ¬ longs This brought together a limit field of platers Bokhara as usual was quick to begin and opened up a long lead Romano roused her with the whip several times enter ¬ ing the stretch to keep her to her task She continued with good courage in the stretch and was never threatened winning by four lengths Vellas worked his way up on the outside finished with a rush and wore down Taudlane for second place in the last few strides Taudlane tired inside the last seventy yards after being a forward factor from the beginning beginningG G C Brentons Dream Daddy broke his leg while racing on the outside of his field and was destroyed destroyedH H Haymakers Mad Mullah performed right back to his splendid effort of Saturday and accounted for the seven furlongs of the second fashioned exclusively for Canadian breds Pandorus from the Seagram Stable was second with J C Fletchers Wilhelmina landing third Breaking on the extreme out ¬ side Mad Mullah steadily worked his way to the leaders fought it out with Pandorus all the last three furlongs and outgamed the Seagram threeyearold at the finish Pan ¬ dorus raced Flowering Bowl into submission went into the lead and continued courage ¬ ously in the drive but was not good enough Wilhelmina forced her way through the field came to the outside of the leaders for the final issue but barely lasted to hold the third award from Sweetest Song which found clear sailing on the inside through the stretch after coming from far back backSTEALAWAY STEALAWAY EASILY EASILYElmtree Elmtree Stable accounted for another ju ¬ venile event which was decided over the five furlongs distance when Stealaway made a show of the opposition that opposed her Ridden by V Smith Stealaway was slow to leave the barrier She was rushed around on the outside of her field and by the time the turn into the stretch had been reached had opened up a long lead and it appeared to be just a matter of the distance by which her rider wanted to win when she sud ¬ denly ducked to the extreme outside of the track Meanwhile Mental had stayed close to the inner rail and had moved within striking distance Smith soon straightened his mount struck her several times with the whip and Stealaway again opened up on her closest opponents At the end she was being eased Op five lengths in advance of Mental which was a short head in advance of Imaginary The latter was last away from the barrier came wide in the stretch and would have been second in a few more strides stridesB B O F Randolphs recent winner Sus ¬ tain was racing in second place when she was jumped upon so badly that it was found necessary to destroy her herDick Dick Pendings Iina Queen defeated a good field of sprinting platers that met in the six furlongs of the fifth Willie Cannon local apprentice had the mount on the win ¬ ner and kept the Pending filly under restraint while Sabana and Contemplate were fighting it out for the lead Coming up on the out ¬ side of her field for the stretch run Ima Queen wore down Contemplate which had disposed of Sabana inside the last seventy yards and was drawing away at the finish Contemplate though unable to withstand the closing rush of the winner easily held sec ¬ ond SabanaThe place safe from the tiring Sabana The stables of R E Perry and F Nan colas will entrain for Kenilworth Wednesday to await the opening of the meeting at that point The clever apprentice J Boucher who is under contract to F Nancolas will ac ¬ company the shipment
