BLUCH DINEEN began fast and outran the others to the first turn and, hustled along throughout, hung on gamely to outgame CURTSEY. The latter, a factor from the start, forced a fast pace and looked to have the winner beaten at the head of the stretch, then tired. FOURTH WARD closed strongly and was overtaking the leaders at every stride. DOUBLE O. began slowly and was never able to get up. STRONG TACKLE was very fractious at the barrier and was finally started from outside the machine. Scratched— Caty Lady, 105: 58242 Pollys Folly, 105; 58449 Tenant, 117. KINGS CRIER, jumping boldly, moved into an easy lead going to the sixth fence, but had to be hustled along to withstand several challenges from CONTRITION. The latter responded gamely going to the last fence, but tired on the flat. KIANG, a safe jumped, lacked speed. EIDERBARD showed a lot of early speed. FORRESTER fell at the fourth obstacle. CAPTAIN HOOK ran out at the seventh jump. COQ GRIS and WARRIOR BOLD fell at the ninth jump. TAURUS. CREEK and FAIR BOB fell at the last fence. KING OXFORD and MERILINE pulled up after the twelfth fence. FAIR MOSS fell on the flat after taking the last jump. PROOF POSITIVE lost his rider at the seventh jump. JAFFA, hustled to the front, withstood a long, hard drive and was in close quarters at the end. LILLYBF7T came again and responded gamely to punishment. FLAMING, rated behind the pacemakers until turning into the stretch, went to the outside, but responded gamely and wore down the leaders. COLOSSAL raced on the outside of LADDER and the pair raced head and head from the eighth post and, hard ridden, came again in the stretch. LADDER drew into an easy lead on the first turn, saved ground at the head of the stretch, but quit in the last sixteenth. Scratched— 58329 Snowflake, 121; 58393 Gigantic, 109. ELECTION DAY, a keen factor throughout, hung on gamely when put to a drive and outlasted SUN VIKING and STEPENFETCHIT at the end. The latter, as usual, a bit slow to start, raced very wide all the way, but closed much ground, only to tire after getting up SUN VIKING had a lot taken out of him racing PHANTOM LEGION into defeat. AIR PILOT, slow to start, moved up on the stretch turn, but quit. POLITEN raced fast to the half -mile post and easily disposed of PRINCE MEXICAN on the far turn, where he drew away into a long lead and was eased up at the end. FAIR DAWN withstood a long, hard stretch drive and outlasted GOLD STAR. The latter tired after getting up. PRINCE MEXICAN opened up a long lead early, but quit. FAIR MAN could not get up. MEANDER rushed into a forward position, was rated along until leaving the back stretch, wore the leaders down when called on and came away ii »the final eighth. BATTLING ON, rushed along from the start, raced SHYLOCK into submission, but could not resist the winners effort. COIN COLLECTOR, well ridden, was unable to keep pace in the final drive. REDCLIFFE, kept within striking distance of the leaders, was held safe when making his run. PUNISHMENT finished stoutly. ROYAL PANOPLY tired. SHYLOCK quit. FLYACROSS was going fast at the end.
