— I f * AURORA TURF NOTES | t $ | AURORA, 111., May 5. Wirt G. Bowman, one of the stars of the A. A. Baroni, string, is rounding to his best form, after having been turned out at Clyde Freemans ranch during the winter. Gold Mint, the good sprinter from the stable of R. Pollard, pulled up lame after working on Tuesday morning and was excused from starting. Princeton, another star of the stable, was badly cut about the leg in Mondays racing. Mondays and Fridays are Ladies Days at , Aurora. The crowd on the opening day of this week was swelled by over 4,000 fair fans, who gained free admittance to the . grounds. L. J. Cunningham, who is riding at Exposition Park, is the same boy that was riding at Tanforan as J. Cunningham. He is under contract to L. T. Whitehill. Two young apprentices, J. Neel and T. P. . Martin, made their first appearances in the I jockey room today. Martin was accepting his first mount on Hipaloma, while Neel rode Bonnie L. E. E. Major shipped two horses to Kansas City this morning to take part in the coming meeting at Riverside Park. Nancy Seth pulled up sore after working this morning and was excused from starting in the seventh race today. Horsemen intending to ship to . Danville, 111., for the coming ten-day meeting at that point are advised to apply for stall room to E. C. Knebelkamp. Plaza Hotel, Danville. Owing to several races failing to fill this morning, the seventh race, at one mile and one-eighth, was split three ways. It will be run as the fifth, sixth and seventh races on Wednesday. The Bill Bee Stable, which is owned by Willard Mack, well known playwright, is stabled at Washington Park awaiting the opening of racing at that point. Satin Spar, winter sensation at Agua Caliente, is the star of the string, which also includes two useful two-year-olds, Suns Son and Sir Satin. Trainer A. L. Jones is expected to arrive from the West this week. Never before has there been so many bad acting horses on the Exposition Park grounds. Starter Morrisseys assistants are kept busy for hours each morning schooling the "rogues" at the barrier. Over eighty j I were schooled this morning. I
