1 1 J ■ J | • : I , DE MONTES FALL PLANS Success of Recent Meeting Results in Consideration of Another During Month of September. | DEL MONTE, Calif., May 25.— The spring race meeting at Del Monte was such a success that plans are being considered for a series of races in the fall. The Del Monte Polo and Racing Association will probably apply to the Pacific Coast Breeders Association for dates after the middle of September, taking in two week-ends after the California State Golf championships are finished on September 13. Much local interest has been revived in racing, and it will result in a number of prominent horsemen getting in the game. It will prove a big incentive to the breeding of thoroughbreds. The scheduling of the exciting steeplechase events has already had the effect of bringing newcomers into racing. Wetmore Hodges, owner of a big ranch in Montana, purchased Pal Jose. Cyril Tobin and Captain Henry Forester took over Shasta Nut for a reported sum of ,000. Addison Still-well has Plunging Sun and will probably purchase others. Mrs. Herman S. Crossman has a string, Very French being a winner during the past meeting. Mrs. Tobin Clark and Miss Marion Hollins are starting in on a big scale. There are a number of others,, prominent locally, who will have their col* ors represented. There is a need of more jumpers for the steeplechases, but it is figured they will come by scheduling these races. The steeplechases are popular with the crowds, and were a feature along with the flat races at Del Monte. ■
