INTRODUCE DAILY DOUBLE Innovation in Wagering May Be Tried at Dorval Park — Similar ; to Mutuel Pools. 4 MONTREAL, Que., May 25.— Something" new in Canada in the matter of race track wagering will be introduced in Montreal this summer. The probability is that the "Daily Double," as it is called, will be inaugurated locally at the Dorval meeting. The plan has been taken up by Leon Dan-durand with the federal government authorities, and they have agreed that it may be introduced. The "Daily Double" is sold as a ticket through the mutuels and is what its name implies, a ticket covering a wager on two races. It is a thin card about twice the size of an ordinary mutuel ticket. It is sold folded in the middle, and the bettor retains one half and deposits the other half in a special box or boxes furnished for the Daily Double tickets. The bettor wager differs from ordinary bets inasmuch as the individual picks two horses instead of one. Two races are nominated by the executive each day, and the public is invited to try and name the two winners. It is not a parlay" but a pool divided among those bettors who have named the winners of two races. The dividends paid by this pool may be greater than the ordinary "parlay" odds. Tickets will sell for , and both halves are numbered with corresponding figures.
