CRACK FIELD FOR WITHERS Eight or More, Including Jamestown, in Valuable Race at Belmont Park Saturday. NEW YORK, N. Y., May 28.— With a promise that at least eight will be sent to the post for the historic old Withers at Belmont Park Saturday, the prize which will have a gross value of 1,000, it is possible there will be some others named for the old mile special, which had its first running in 1874. Naturally, most of the interest will center in George D. Wideners Jamestown, which A. J. Joyner brought back so magnificently to win a seven furlongs handicap with ease on Wednesday. The son of St. James had been training wonderfully well for Joyner for a considerable time, and his return to racing suggests that he is of real championship timber. The hope of the Greentree Stable will be Surf Board, winner of the Kings County Handicap, and which was started in the Preakness and Kentucky Derby. This fellow seems to have improved since his return from Louisville, and he is expected to give a good account of himself, and it is possible that James Rowe may elect to also start either St. Brideaux or Anchors Aweigh to bear Surf Board company. Clock Tower, Ladder, Polydorus, Sun Meadow, Morstone and Halycon are considered sure starters, while Happy Scot and Baba Kenny may be among the entries when named tomorrow. . *
