Won driving; second and third the same. FLUENT began fast, saved ground throughout and, racing into the lead before reaching the last sixteenth, drew clear quickly and held COUSIN JUDY safe. The latter dropped back on the first turn, saved ground and closed gamely. VERDA worked her way up gradually and raced wide, but held on gamely in the stretch. STELLA F. began slowly, raced up fast in the first eighth and tired after half a mile. DIXIANA had no mishaps. GREEN LEAF showed early speed, but tired badly after reaching the final three-sixteenths, where she bore out. PEARL GRACE, fractious at the post, was left at the start, but raced after the others. CALF ROPER, slow to get going and lucky, was a goodly distance out of it for the first half, then came through on the inside while working his way up fast and, holding the leaders, drew away at the end. NIFTY showed good speed from the start, bore out slightly on the stretch turn and, holding on fairly well after being headed, outfinished LAHOR. The latter, restrained off the pace, saved ground and closed fast. BROAD MEADOWS, much used forcing the early pace, took the lead under pressure in the stretch and tired. HAND TO HAND showed a fair performance. FIDDLER began fastest of all, was forced back on the turn and tired after challenging in the stretch. HOT SHOT quit. Scratched— 59053 Crazy Coot, 115. THE WHIG worked his way up gradually on the inside in the last quarter and closed gamely. LOJO showed speed, hut tired and swerved badly in the final eighth. BY WIRE tired badly. LADY DEAN forced the early pace and, shaking off EMPIRE near the stretch, quit badly after seven eighths. EMPIRE raced wide while showing early speed. CHENE tired. WEIDELEEN was away poorlv. SEA ROCKET had no mishaps. VANDAL began fast, forced the early pace in hand and tired after making a mild bid. BOGAN quit. SEARINGTON began well, but dropped out of it when his rider lost a stirrup at the first turn and Richard could not do him justice thereafter.
