i ■ PwASrTlNGTON PARK NOTES ! $ $ HOMEWOOD, 111., June 18. A misunderstanding in the deal whereby Jack Howard, acting for F. Carreaud, was to have acquired Tombereau, developed and the four-year-old returned to the S. Peabody stable. Apprentice T. Roderick, the newcomer to these parts who lost no time showing promise in the saddle, will accompany the J. W. Parrish stable to Latonia. Willie Crump, former jockey, directing the training and racing of the Parrish horses, hopes to develop the youngster. G. W. Foreman, who unloaded Ned O., Walter K. and Tough Girl at Arlington Park Monday, was a visitor. He may start Ned O. in a race here next week. Dave Vititoe returned from Danville with five horses, the property of Mrs. J. Diebold. J. O. Whitlow has taken over Meg Mer-rilies, a three-year-old filly, to train for W. M. Ingram, Kentucky patron. Barring accident in the American Derby, H. C. Hatchs Boys Howdy goes from here to Latonia for the Latonia Derby. He will be accompanied by Black Cloud. Owner Hatch and L. Gentry, trainer of the Hatch horses, arrived here Wednesday evening. Nomination blanks for the stakes to be run during the Hawthorne summer meeting of eighteen days, opening August 3, were distributed here today. Five stakes, headed by the 5,000 added Hawthorne Handicap, will be run during the meeting. James T. Clark of Louisville and a director of Churchill Downs, Inc., will head a large party coming from that city for the American Derby. Former United States Senator J. N. Camden and Mrs. Camden are coming from their Kentucky estate to witness the American Derby. Clyde Phillips, trainer of the William Ziegler, Jr., and Middleburg Stable horses, and Mrs. Phillips arrived yesterday from New York. Phillips shipped the main division of his stable direct to Arlington from Belmont and the horses he has at Washington Park in charge of L. Campion, an assistant, go over to the northwest side track next week. Phillips will reserve the good filly Sunny Lassie, which was named for the American Derby, for the Oaks and Matron stakes at Arlington Park and she goes to Latonia for the Latonia Oaks on the closing day there. Jockey Herman Schutte will ride Knights Call in the Washington and Latonia Derbys, according to present plans of Kay Spence, trainer of the Audley Farm Stable. Spence will have Carl Meyer with the division of the stable he is taking to Arlington, while Schutte goes to Latonia to do all the riding for the stable of twenty-five ready to carry the Audley colors during that meeting. Knights Call and others of the Audley horses will be shipped to Latonia next Sunday night. John Bradley, brother of E. R. Bradley, is expected here tomorrow and will remain for the American Derby. He will visit his brother in New York and may spend some time at the latters Idle Hour Farm in Kentucky before returning to Colorado. Jockey Earl Pool resumed riding and had several mounts. He is considering offers from two of the largest stables here. Thomas Brown leaves tomorrow for Ashland, where he will direct the racing in connection with the second days fair to be held at the Raceland track and show grounds from June 29 to July 4, inclusive. The Fair Association will give six races for runners daily and purses of 00 and 00 will be offered. la addition to directing the racing Brown will do the starting. Joseph McLennan spent the afternoon assisting horsemen and others shaping their plans for the Arlington Park meeting. He reported that the stable of Dr. J. F. Adams and G. P. Sherman were due to leave Maryland for Arlington Friday. A. S. Lewis, with the horses of W. F. Hausman, Serenata Farm and others getaway Sunday night for Latonia. Eddie Kaiser plans to ship the B. O. Hickman string to the Covington track at the same time. R. West ended his apprenticeship yesterday. He goes to Latonia with the big stable A. A. Baroni will race there. H. M. Woolf, owner of a large stable here in charge of Dan Stewart, is coming on from Kansas City for the American Derby Stewart is sending a carload of the Woolf horses to the Agua Caliente meeting in charge of John Reed, and J. Rich goes along to do the light riding. m
