GALLAGHER ISSUES STATEMENT Announces The Jockey Clubs Stand on Rockingham — Has No Jurisdiction Over Meeting. NEW YORK, N. Y., June 23.— William Gallagher, president of the Rockingham Racing Association, issued the following statement at Aqueduct today: "Major Algernon Daingerfield has just assured that The Jockey Club has no jurisdiction over racing outside of New York. He has assured me that the statement issued yesterday was not a move to cast aspersions upon our meeting, which opens at Salem, N. H, on July 1. It was nothing more than a notice to the racing world that The Jockey Club does not seek or intend to exercise authority at any course outside of the state of New York. "He further stated the Rockingham Park meeting was considered in the same category as racing in Maryland, Illinois and Kentucky. "The Rockingham Racing Association intends to conduct a meeting which will live up to the highest standards of racing. Our officials are well known for their fair mind-edness and qualifications. We have applications for stalls from some of the finest stables of the country. Many well known eastern owners have received stable accommodations. We look forward with much confidence to a very successful meeting."
