JOCKEY JAMES OPERATED ON HOMEWOOD, 111., June 23— Jockey Eugene James successfully underwent an operation for chronic appendicitis at the St. Lukes Hospital, Chicago, this morning. The youngster was making excellent progress late this afternoon.
