-« I LAT0NIA TURF NOTES ] 9 « LATONIA, Ky., June 29. The R. W. Collins stable is expected from Chicago Wednesday. Departure of the stable was delayed that Don Leon might participate in the Arlington Inaugural Handicap today. A number of horsemen and jockeys, together with their families, went to Lexington to pay final respects at the bier of Mrs. Walter Taylor, wife of the young trainer. The remains were borne to their final resting place at Lexington yesterday. The grieved widower collapsed at the services. Mrs. Payne Whitneys St. Brideaux and A. C. Bostwicks Scuttle, second and third respectively in the Latonia Derby, were shipped to Belmont Park yesterday. Scuttle will be returned here to fill her engagement in the 0,000 added Latonia Oaks on the closing day of the meeting. Spanish Play, winner of the Latonia Derby, and Joey Bibb, which suffered a minor injury when contesting the same race, left tonight for Arlington Park. Joey Bibb received a nasty cut on the left fore pastern when he struck himself as he approached the final half mile of the Derby racing in third place and at the least the accident prevented him from making a better showing. W. E. Coover arrived here yesterday with four horses from Bainbridge Park. The western division of Col. E R. Bradleys stable was unloaded this morning after an uneventful fast trip from Washington Park. All of the eighteen horses shirped in fine shape, according to trainer Wiil;am Hurley, and no time will be lost in gettin; the Bradley silks into the local racing scheme. Jockey James Smith came along to do the riding. J. F. Patterson dropped off here for a short time yesterday en route from Lexington to Chicago. He shipped sixteen horses from Lexington to Salem, N. H., in charge of James Everman and, with Mrs. Pa*teT son, goes to New Hampshire the latter pa of the week. Jockey James Smith was so fatigued a f«* driving from Chicago in Sundays grea aat. that he canceled his riding engagemen tor-day. M. J. Ayers and Olin Johnson wer«j licensed as trainers and W. O. Lunsford. L. G. Pierce, E. Parks and D. R. Riddlej took out agents papers.
