SOLACE VICTOR IN HANDICAP Seagram Representative Best in Hamiltons Feature — Pin Wheel and Gilded Casino Also Win. HAMILTON, Ont.. June 29.— The Advance Handicap, six and one-half furlongs, served as the special feature for the fourth day of the Hamilton Jockey Clubs summer meeting today. Solace, from the Seagram Sta-• ble, carried top weight to victory in a hard drive with C. H. Millers Meridian Queen, while French Lass, from the H. C. Hatch barn, took third place. Rubio, from the Geneseo Stable, finished in nearest attendance of that trio, while Yankee Doodle, Frumper, Table Talk and Aldershot completed the field. The Advance Handicap had fifth place on a rather ordinary card and after a delay of five minutes, caused through the unruli-ness of Meridian Queen, the field got away in good alignment, and it was French Lass which took command, while Meridian Queen went along in chase, closely followed by Table Talk and Solace. French Lass was still in command as she made the final turn, but Solace had begun to move. Forcing his way through gallantly, Solace displaced the swift running Hatch starter, but Meridian Queen was not through. Legere applied the whip to his mounts flanks to make certain of victory, and Solace, gamely responding, came away until at the end he was just a half length clear. This race also saw a new mark for the distance when Solace sped over the course in l:19i. Airway, from the A. A. Griffith stable, was victor in the one mile and seventy yards race for medium grade platers that was the third, and it marked the second score for that establishment at this course. Bushman, the recent acquisition of the H. G. Ellis stable and the choice for the race, finished within a head of the Griffith colorbearer at the end and Marcheur, from the Harber stable, was an exceedingly close third. Home-breds engaged in a race for the second time during the afternoon when a limit field started in the fifth. This saw the downfall of the favorite, Flamingo, when the best he could accomplish was to land second honors. Gilded Casino, from the G. Hogarth barn, emerged victorious after a drive, with J. Whytes Standard bearer. Fess, from the Thorncliffe Stable, was a driving third to take the measure of Ferry of Fate.
