DERBY ENTRIES CLOSE TODAY LOUISVILLE, Kyv Feb. 2. Nominations for the Kentucky Derby, Clark Handicap, Bashford Manor Stakes and the Kentucky Oaks will close Wednesday, February midnight. All entries for those stakes received after that time will be null and void. Postmarks on all mailed envelopes will accepted, if before midnight of February 3. The Churchill Downs management is highly elated as to the class and number of entries received for all the fixtures to be run at the Churchill Downs spring meeting, which will begin April 30 and extend to May 21. The Derby nominations are particularly pleasing, and the list contains about all best -three-year-old colts, fillies and geldings in the country. The responses from the East were equally as good as those of former years, while from the Middle and Far West the nominations were indicative of the popularity of the Kentucky Derby.
