CANCEL INITIAL HANDICAP Change of Scene Forces United Hunts To Call Off Spring Feature Fees Returned. NEW YORK, N. Y., Feb. 2. Plans of the United Hunts Racing Association to run its spring meeting at West Hills, Huntington, L. I. , June 11, instead of at Aqueduct as heretofore, do not permit the renewal of the Initial Handicap, a six furlong- sprint stake for three-year-olds and over, which has been a feature of the spring meeting f"- several years. The stake closed a month ago and about thirty-five nominations had been received when the association decided to abandon the April 15 date granted by The Jockey Club and defer the meeting to June II, and conduct it under the rules of the National Steeplechase and Hunt Association. Entries for the Initial Handicap have been returned to the nominators with the expectation that the stake will be included in the program for the fall meeting, which will be held at Belmont Park, November 1, 5 and 8. The handicap probably will be run on the second day. It is expected that a much larger entry will be received for the fall renewal than the spring running, particularly at Belmont Park, where flat race conditions are excellent.
