HABANERO, much the best but away slowly, improved his position after half a mile and, going around the leaders on the stretch turn, quickly drew clear and won easily. GRAPHITE began fast and while no match for the winner, held on well. LOUIS MERRYMAN, taken back repeatedly, saved ground on the last turn and closed gamely. TIEDEMANN showed a fair performance. MADFINIS showed speed, but quit. BOOT NOSE raced wide all the wav. TULANE LASS began well, but quit badly after half a mile. The latter, also lucky on the first turn, worked her way up on the inside, took a short lead, but was not good enough. JOAN G. began slowly and tired in the stretch. LITTLE PAN could not get up. AIMEE GOLDSMITH showed speed. KITTY WILKINS stumbled on the first turn, forcing James out of the saddle, but he clung to the mane of SUNNY PORT, escaping a fall. OMalley pulled up to assist James. LADY BIENVILLE ran into Sunny PORT, unseating her rider. The latter raced wide, tosponded to urging in the stretch, but was not good enough. HOOPS, close up for half a mile, tired in the stretch. GREEN WAVE showed speed, saved ground, but quit badly. The latter began slowly, raced wide into the stretch, but closed resolutely. SERGT. DONALDSON showed good speed, saved ground, but quit after five-eighths. CHOKOLOSKEE lost ground, withstood pressure and was best of the- others. FINNIC, a factor from the start, held on fairly well. BLACK MAMMY showed speed, lost ground and withstood the drive gamely. COME ON closed well. MORSNUFF tired badly in the final eighth. TONY JOE failed to respond in the stretch. ALBAZANO lost ground on the first turn, showed speed, then tired after challenging in the stretch. FLORENCE DOLAN had no mishaps. SUPER TOY bore in repeatedly. ALAMAE showed early speed. ARISTOCRAT was outrun. WAYFARER was forced back repeatedly, lacked room in the stretch, where he was under restraint.
