MOUNT ROYAL TO DISBAND Partners in Canadian Stable Decide to Dispose of Stock Retain Marine for Present. TORONTO, Ont., Feb. 12. Canadian rac- ing has lost a prominent member by reason of the disbanding of the Mount Royal Stable. The syndicate of Mount Royal busi-j ness men, headed by the Canadian Racing! Associations chairman, Kenneth T. Dawes, i who owned the stable, decided at a recent ! meeting, after the death of Charles E. Neill, part-owner, to cease turf operations and much of the stock has already been disposed of to various Canadian stables. Harry Giddings, who has trained the Mount Royal Stock since the organization of the stable five years ago, purchased, out of sentiment, the mare, Calm, which was the first horse bought at the foundation of the stable. Calm is in foal to Cudgel and will be brought to Ontario so that her foal will be eligible for the Kings Plate. Marine is undoubtedly the best horse that ever raced under the Mount Royal Stables red and black silks. He is now at Agua Caliente and is one of the highest regarded candidates for the impending renewal of the Agua Caliente 0,000 Handicap. The son of Man o War is holder of the Canadian mile record, 1:36, established at the Blue Bonnets course, Montreal, on August 31, 1929. He will not be sold until after his Agua Caliente Handicap engagement on March 18. Other successful racers in the Mount Royal colors were Play Ball, Kopeck, Count Bruno and Deduce. Bubbling Out was claimed from the stable last season. Play Ball won several purses before he was taken away from the stable in a high price claiming race. Deduce has been disposed of to Mr. R. S. McLaughlin and will still be one of Mr. Giddings charges, that trainer having replaced J. H. Black, Jr., as trainer of the Oshawa owners stable. R. W. R. Cowie has come into possession of the stables best brood mare, French Miss, fourteen-year-old daughter of Malamount and Misty Morning, which is the dam of Madam Pompadour, Milestone, Westward Ho and Count Bruno, all winners. French Miss is in foal to Dis Done, the C. V. Whitney sire and daddy of Top Flight, which was brought to Canada on rental for a short jaeriod last year.
