i SPLENDID CHARITY DAY CARD Three Attractive Races Scheduled for Sundays Sport at Fair Grounds Course. NEW ORLEANS, La., Feb. 25 Two condition races will bring together the best horses to be seen in action at -the Fair Grounds Sunday when the second annual j one-day charity meeting, sponsored by the New Orleans Welfare Committee and for the benefit of the unemployed of this city, will be held. In the best of the two and the feature race on the card of eight contests, four-year-olds and older horses will meet at one mile and a sixteenth and for a purse of ,000, while three-year-olds will compete in the other, of 00 value, and to be run at three-quarters. A purse event for maiden two-year-old fillies, over three-eighths, and five claiming events for older performers, complete the program as arranged by Joseph McLennan, racing secretary of the Louisiana Jockey Club, and announced today. Col. John P. Sullivan, managing director of the Louisiana Jockey Club, which, as in 1931, is tendering use of the Fair Grounds and facilities for the day to the Welfare Committee without any cost whatsoever, has completed preparations for the handling of a capacity crowd. Reports received by Colonel Sullivan point to a big sale of general admission tickets, distribution of which got under way Monday, and with a good break in weather, he anticipates a crowd closely approaching that of last year when the charity day throng overflowed the grounds. All employees of the Louisiana Jockey Club are declining remuneration for their services for the day, and others added to the personnel of various departments for that day only, will work gratis. Last years benefit netted more than 0,000, and it is believed that only adverse weather will prevent realization of close to that amount Sunday.
