CATALANS IDOL, away fast but timidly ridden going to the first turn, moved up with a rush under a badly judged ride after a quarter, disposed of MASTER McGEE on the far turn and, maintaining good speed, had speed to spare. QUICK SALE responded well when hard urged and, wearing down MASTER McGEE, outlasted WELL BEHAVED. The latter began slowly, -but made up ground. MASTER McGEE, away in a tangle and rushed into the lead in the first quarter, tired badly in the stretch. MY TOOTS had no mishaps. DUSKY BOY began slowly. OBSTINATE GIRL quit. TROLL, a strops: factor, withstood the drive gamely. VAGABOND worked, his way into the lead only to tire in the drive. RED TAM, away slowly, saved much ground on the first turn, worked his way up gradually and was going away well at the end. J. GEORGE quit. DRYDOCK was in close quarters early. BEIGE showed early speed. COCKRILL, away slowly, raced wide and showed a poor performance. FIDDLER, outrun early, saved much ground on the stretch turn, responded well in the closing three-sixteenths and, coming through between the leaders, wore down BURGOO and was ready to draw away. The latter, away fast, showed speed, was forced wide by HIGH FOOT entering the stretch and, after forcing tha latter back, held on well, but was not good enough and was disqualified for impeding HIGH FOOT. SMEAR saved ground and held on well. HIGH FOOT showed good speed, bore out slightly entering the stretch, met interference in the final drive and could not get up. SARIETTA began fast, saved ground and, while no match for the winner, held second place safe. WALTER D. raced wide and showed a fair performance. ESPINACA also raced wide and did not threaten. DEFIER and PRINCESS A. O. quit. FLAUNT injured himself severely when, he straddled one of the partitions of the starting gate, the injury so disabling him that he was unfit to race and Pool properly eased him up after going a quarter. The latter, takea into the lead, was taken back entering the stretch and, closing gamely, was wearing down BRASS MONKEY. WHO WIN showed a good performance. The latter, probably much the best, began fast, was jostled back on the second turn and, racing resolutely after working his way to the outside in the stretch, finished fastest of all. BUNYORA dropped out of it, but closed a gap after half a mile. JUNIOR C. closed fast. TEA GREEN had a rough race. BROAD AXE lacked room. BELEVEITORNOT quit. BRINKLEY showed speed for three-quarters.
