NEW YORK TRACKS DESERTED NEW YORK, N. Y., March 8. Training operations were at a standstill at the Long Island tracks this morning. All of the courses were deep in mud; and a high wind, accompanied by flurries of snow, swept the plants. Even James Fitzsirnmons, one of the hardiest of horsemen, kept his string under cover at Aqueduct, although he said he would work them late in the day if weather conditions moderated. Save, for a few open gallops early in the day, the Belmont Park, Aqueduct and Jamaica, courses were deserted.
