FALSE START, RACE RUN OVER AGUA CALIENTE, Mexico, March 19. Much excitement was caused at Agua Caliente yesterday over the running of the second race, a cheap sprinting affair which brought out nine starters. While the animals were at the barrier one of the horses struck the webbing, causing it to rise on the inside, and all but Lord Vale, the outside horse, broke. Starter Cassidy did not give the word to commence and attempted to call them back, but all but Lord Vale ran the entire distance, and in a drive Bay Rose, the favorite, bested Dominant Star, while Chatter On was third. As it was a false start and not a race, the animals were compelled by the rules to race the distance once more, and Lord Vale, which had stood in the stall gate while his rivals were circling the track the first time, was an easy winner. Fresh, he went to the front at once and scored by fifteen lengths. None of the others were punished, and all but Bay Rose and Chatter On, which finished second and third respectively, were eased up.
